I ran a 10,000 employee payroll, we were in all 50 states and the US possessions. When I took it over we were doing the tax filing in-house. When we converted payroll systems we outsourced the tax filing to the payroll vendor. Remember, you can outsource the function of filing the taxes but the liability is still yours. You can’t blindly assume your vendor is doing it right. You still need someone on your staff who can do the reconciliations and who can be a liaison with the vendor.
